I am a registered dietitian with expertise in nutrition education development, dissemination and management. Specifically, my interests include prevention and intervention program development and implementation related to chronic diseases, health behaviors, and healthy lifestyle adoption.

Banjul Covington
A.P.R.N.

I am Banjul Covington, a native Memphian. I am the proud mommy of two yorkies, Pynnie and Poncho. I am the oldest of two girls and twin boys. I knew from a very early age that I wanted to work in the healthcare field. I always “doctored” on my siblings whenever I got the opportunity.

I graduated with my MSN from the Loewenburg School of Nursing at the University of Memphis in 2006. My past experiences include pediatrics, retail convenience care, family practice and a brief time in pain management.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of the Church Health team where I can help make a difference in the lives of those who may not otherwise be able to get appropriate healthcare.

Steve Fergus
D.D.S.

CH-Dentists1H. Steven Fergus, DDS

Undergrad: UT Knoxville
Dental School: University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis TN
Additional Residency: General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital, Memphis TN

Family: Wife-Rosemary (Fun fact: We will be married 39 years in 2019!); 3 girls, all married; 8 grandkids; 2 dogs: maltese and snorkey (schnauzer-yorkey)

Get to know Dr. Fergus:

I became a dentist because I enjoy working with my hands and always wanted to provide healthcare to others.  I enjoy interacting one-on-one with my patients and it is very rewarding to get patients out of pain, so they leave happy and healthy.  I especially enjoy doing cosmetic and oral surgery procedures.  I try to treat all my patients like they were family.  I show gentleness, give advice on treatment, and provide options for care, so my patients have the best experience possible.

I like working hard and the positive environment here at Church Health.  The staff works well together towards our mission of providing quality care to our appreciative patients.

Diane Flexsenhar
D.D.S.

Diane Flexsenhar, DDS

Undergrad: University of Texas at Austin
Dental School: University of Texas Health Science at San Antonio

Family: Husband, Michael; two boys, ages four and two

Get to know Dr. Flexsenhar:

I became a dentist because I enjoy helping patients through healthcare. I love the instant gratification of dental treatment and giving someone their smile back. I love to have fun with my patients and love when they laugh with me.

The leadership at Church Health truly cares about your wellbeing. The patients we serve are so grateful and it creates a lower stress environment compared to private practice. I also like serving those who truly need dental care and would otherwise not have access to it. Church Health is an awesome place to work!

Michael Gaither
D.D.S.

CH-Dentists2Michael Gaither, DDS

Undergrad: George Mason University
Dental School: University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis TN

Family: Wife-Kristen; Dog- Pongo (rescue mixed breed); Cats- Lilly (tabby/white) and Stella (tortie)

Get to know Dr. Gaither:

I became a dentist because I was influenced by my own experiences and by a good friend that is a dentist. Dr. Pulido gave me my start in dentistry working as a dental assistant.  I worked and learned on the job and went on to dental assisting school. I worked two years as a dental assistant and then went on to dental school because I loved the profession. I am easy going and conservative in my treatment plans. I want patients to feel comfortable and enjoy their experience.

I enjoy the mission and the diverse patient population here at Church Health. We do not judge people by their socioeconomic status. We give hope and healing to people who truly need help and understanding.

Get to know Dr. Hodge:

I became a dentist because I loved math and science in undergrad. I thought I wanted to go into prosthetics. After working for a dentist and orthodontist, I realized I could do a miniature version of prosthetics with teeth! I love art and working with my hands and dentistry is a perfect combination of my skill set. I love to laugh and consider my patients my family. Going to the dentist can and should be FUN! My patients trust me to give them the best care and I provide that at every appointment.

Giving someone a confident, healthy smile is why I enjoy my job.  I love Church Health’s mission to care for our neighbors and I truly believe a smile can transform someone’s life.
