About the Church Health Commissary Kitchen

Church Health’s new facility at Crosstown Concourse includes a 400 sq. ft. commissary kitchen and incubator resources. The shared kitchen is available for rent and complements the existing community cooking classes and Culinary Medicine program to support healthy and innovative local food entrepreneurship.

The commissary kitchen rents for $25 per hour, 3-hour minimum, pre-reserved with deposit.

Add-ons require an additional charge.

We have special rates for non-profits, new healthy food entrepreneurs, and Church Health partners.

The commissary kitchen features commercial grade equipment, including:

10-burner gas range, with 2 lowboy ovens, and broiler plates

Alto Shaam 8-rack combi oven with steam and convection capabilities

30-quart floor mixer

Reach-in refrigeration

Under-counter refrigeration

Stainless steel work table

3-compartment sink

Hand sink

Vegetable sink

Dish machine

30-gallon tilt skillet

Ice machine

Rental includes:

Access to some smallwares (bowls, utensils, sheetpans, small equipment)

Access to loading dock

Use of carts and speedracks

Trash and recycling

Pest control services

WiFi

Day-of access to walk-in refrigeration and freezer

Resources for Health Department and Department of Agriculture permitting; distribution; marketing; labeling; additional training; food costing, recipe scaling and costing

Add ons:

Dry storage space

Walk-in refrigerator and freezer space

Grill kitchen (8 burner + grill, 2 lowboy ovens, workspace, under-counter refrigeration, 3-compartment sink)

Teaching kitchen (6 home-style stations with 4-burner electric cooktops and 2 rack ovens, hand wash sinks, vegetable sinks, under-counter refrigeration)

Classroom — with flat-screen TV and boardroom seating for 24

Requirements

  1. Application to be reviewed and approved by Church Health
  2. Product line in accordance with Church Health healthy nutrition guidelines
  3. State of TN business registration
  4. Shelby County business license (some exceptions)
  5. General liability insurance with Church Health names as an additional insured / Workers’ compensation (for companies with 5 or more employees)
  6. Department of Agriculture Permit (depending on type of product, attained after you are in the kitchen)
  7. ServSafe certification (can be obtained within first weeks of rental)
  8. Deposit equal to one-month’s rent, $250 minimum
  9. Orientation / equipment training / safety overview – Church Health provides
