ABOUT THE ARTIST
A native of Atlanta, Jill Steenhuis has lived in Aix-en-Provence for over 38 years, painting the landscape of Provence. She graduated from Sweetbriar College with a BFA in studio art and then attended the Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing in Aix. In the 1980s and 90s she had her studio at the Chateau Noir, famously the site of Cezanne’s studio nearly 100 years before.

She resides in a restored Provencal home in the countryside of Aix with her husband, a sculptor; they have three sons, one of whom Sergio Ruffato, will be showing his work with Jill in Memphis. Ruffato is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design with recent works show at the National Salon of Beaux Arts at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.
