For this upcoming fifth Sunday after Epiphany, we are offered the following passages to ponder: Isaiah 6:1-8, (9-13), Psalm 138, 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, and Luke 5:1-11.

Isaiah 6:8Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!”

Were you quick to raise your hand in school, or did you sit at your desk, hands in your lap, hoping the teacher wouldn’t call on you? Isaiah was not confident in his abilities at first, but God gave him the strength to say, “Send me!”

Almighty God, help make our spirits strong so that we can boldly answer your call to service. Amen.
