Psalm 25:2-3 O my God, in you I trust; do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me. Do not let those who wait for you be put to shame; let them be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.

When I was diagnosed with depression in the 1990’s, my initial reaction was one of shame. I felt that I was weak. As I have grown older, my own exploration of God’s grace has led me to believe that God has forgiven me before I have forgiven myself…that God loves us more than we love ourselves.

Loving and almighty God, help us to accept the generous love you offer, even when loving ourselves is difficult. Amen.
