Psalm 14:4-5 – Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon the LORD? There they shall be in great terror, for God is with the company of the righteous. You would confound the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.
I have been thinking about powerlessness a lot lately, particularly as it relates to the process of recovery. This passage reminds us that despite the powers over us, God is always ready to provide us shelter.
Loving God, at those times in our lives when you seem distant from us, help us to find your steadfast beacon that can lead us back to you. Amen.
