Hometown: Las Vegas, NV
Undergrad School / Major: Rhodes College / Biology
Despite being born in the city of Memphis, I grew up in Las Vegas, NV. Deciding to attend Rhodes College in Memphis certainly felt like a ‘homecoming’ in a sense that I chose to live in a city that I have never visited, but originally was from. My experiences in healthcare as a student and patient in both cities have inspired me to provide people with more positive and personalized experiences in healthcare in order to help diminish some of the negative expectations that they have of healthcare. I chose to spend my gap year in Memphis with Church Health to observe how physicians that practice in underserved areas can offer their patients a more comforting and equitable healthcare setting. My hobbies include cooking, exploring the city, and staying active in any way that I can.
What are you looking forward to this coming year?
I am enthusiastic to utilize the resources that the Church Health’s Scholars Program has to offer in order to better understand how to provide underserved communities with more positive and equitable experiences in healthcare.
What are you hoping to get out of this year?
I am hoping to learn, from observing the volunteer specialists, what I can do to further develop professionally and become a more compassionate physician in the future.
