Callan Truitt is a Church Health scholar working at The Well to emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle with children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. After spending time alongside physicians in pediatrics and gynecology, Callan believes that whole-child health means both physical and mental wellness in addition to spiritual growth. Callan loves working with kids and believes that their energy is contagious. She also finds that leading a faith-oriented life greatly impacts how she treats people and increases the moral as well as professional standard that she holds for herself.
During her time at the University of Arkansas, Callan received a bachelor’s degree in Biology as well as a minor in Spanish. With this educational background, Callan hopes to attend medical school in the fall of 2022 at the University of Tennessee here in Memphis. Following the completion of her medical degree, Callan aspires to work in South America dealing with either pediatrics or women’s health and the shortage of female reproductive care in underprivileged communities.
In her spare time, Callan can usually be found walking her dog by the Mississippi River or cooking up something new in the kitchen. She also has a passion for travel and spent a semester studying in Valencia, Spain in order to expand her scientific knowledge and broaden her understanding of cultures that differ from her own.
