Hometown: Warthen, GA
Undergrad School / Major: Mercer University / Neuroscience
My name is Hannah Durden, and I am from a small rural town in central Georgia. I recently graduated from Mercer University with a degree in Neuroscience and minors in Biology and Chemistry. I aspire to attend medical school and return home to serve patients in my community as healthcare is limited. I enjoy the outdoors, traveling, going to the gym, reading, and walking my sweet pup, Harley. While at Mercer, I served as president of Phi Mu, worked alongside MU Miracle’s executive committee as Director of Hospitality to raise money for the local children’s hospital, and worked as a CNA for a short period of time. I also was a member of Mercer’s cheerleading team for the first two years of college, and I thoroughly enjoy pouring into young girls through the realm of coaching cheerleading/gymnastics when I’m at home.
I chose Church Health for my gap year because of their commitment to providing holistic healthcare to their patients. I firmly believe that there are several driving factors that influence a patient’s health, and I admire Church Health for including a faith-based approach to healthcare. I am most looking forward to being able to form relationships with the Church Health staff and team of scholars while soaking up all of the knowledge and experience I can within the next year. My goal is to be a servant for the patients we encounter, and I can’t wait to serve as a Referrals Scholar!
