Princeton James Echols is living his dream. The 36-year-old found the courage to leave a structured job to become a writer, director, and producer. He was a healthy young man with one problem. His dream didn’t provide affordable health care.
“I just needed maintenance,” said Echols. “I feel like I’m talking about a car, but actually I’m describing how I feel about my teeth. I wanted to get them cleaned and checked for cavities and just make sure that my gums were healthy.”
Echols heard about Church Health’s MEMPHIS Plan through a friend who also was an artist. “I loved the name “Church Health” because I am a country church boy, you know? I applied, and it’s been the best health care coverage I’ve ever had, period.”
“The care at Church Health reminded me of the care I had when I was with Blue Cross Blue Shield or with Cigna when I was in corporate America. But I like being at Church Health even better. Maybe it’s the actor in me, but I love to go into places that feel warm, and the customer service is great.”
Echols said going to the dentist can be this intimidating experience for people, but he always feels welcome at Church Health. “I never know what other people are going through, so it’s important to me to engage with others through my smile. I know I have a healthy smile, because when I smile at people, they smile back at me.”
Princeton Echols’ story is a testament to the positive impact of the MEMPHIS Plan and Church Health’s commitment to affordable care.
