Job Description
This position’s overall purpose is to provide patient services for patients who come to Church Health for health care. This includes answering and routing all income calls, scheduling appointments, verifying medical insurance eligibility, collecting patient demographics and fees and posting data in the system. Patient service assistants are the first line of contact for outside community partners, for example, patients, donors, volunteers, etc. Thus, it is a vital part of the job to provide outstanding customer service to all that we are in contact with including fellow employees.
Responsibilities
- Answer Church Health multi-line phone system or provide reception services for patients who come to Clinic for health care Answer and accurately route all incoming calls received on the Center’s main incoming line to the appropriate employee. Type messages from patients and route to the appropriate personnel. Scanning of various documents into patient’s carts. (Phone PSA)
- Provide services for patients who come to Church Health for health care by collecting demographic information and scanning information into software systems. Collect monetary income documents; verify medical insurance eligibility and direct patients to appropriate areas for services. (Front Desk PSA)
- Ensure accurate collection of fees in conjunction with physician’s Diagnostic treatment and post in software system. Prepare reconciliation report by matching fees collected and balancing out funds at the end of each day.
- Schedule patients for appointments either in person or via phone. Ensure patient’s information is up to date. Contact patients as deemed necessary. Send out patient communications for all clinical service lines. Assist in establishing patients.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 3 to 5 years’ experience as a receptionist or at the front desk in a health care environment.
- Bilingual candidate preferred
Special Skills & Knowledge
- Must be able to communicate effectively on the telephone pay attention to details
- Must have knowledge of resources available to respond to the needs of patients.
- Must have strong computer and data entry skills, and knowledge of HIPAA regulations, healthcare codes and industry standards
