For Kate Mallory, supporting Church Health has never been just about writing a check. It has always been about carrying forward a legacy.
As a teenager, Kate’s grandfather introduced her to philanthropy by bringing her to Church Health’s original Midtown location. Walking through the clinic with Dr. Scott Morris, she witnessed something that would stay with her for the rest of her life. She saw neighbors caring for neighbors. She saw people receiving the healthcare they needed to continue working, caring for their families, and living with dignity.
That day, she realized something remarkable: even as a teenager, she could make a difference.
Today, more than two decades later, Kate is a proud third-generation Church Health donor.
“My grandfather always said, ‘If you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything,'” Kate says. “Church Health meets one of the greatest needs our city has.”
That belief has become a cornerstone of her family’s life. Giving has never been viewed as an occasional act of generosity, but as an essential part of living, just as important as planning for any other household necessity. It is simply what they do.
For Kate and her husband, Neely, supporting Church Health is also deeply personal because they love Memphis.
“We both feel it’s a privilege to give back,” she says. “We were born and raised here, and we believe it’s important to bloom where you’re planted.”

Over the years, Kate has watched Church Health grow alongside the city it serves. She still treasures a copy of Dr. Scott Morris’ book, Your Heart Is Like My Heart, given to her grandfather many years ago. Every few years, she pulls it from her bookshelf, reminded that the vision started decades ago continues today through dedicated staff, volunteers, and generous supporters.
What resonates most with Kate is the humanity behind Church Health’s mission.
She thinks about the hardworking people across Memphis who simply want to provide for their families. When illness or injury stands in the way, everything else becomes uncertain. Church Health restores more than physical health—it restores opportunity, hope, and the ability to move forward.
Kate has seen that impact firsthand.
As a board member of PURE Academy, she has watched students who lacked access to specialty care receive treatment through Church Health after sports injuries threatened to end their athletic careers. Young men she knows personally have been able to heal, return to the field, and continue pursuing their dreams because someone chose to give.
Those moments have only deepened her conviction.
“I’ve had the privilege of meeting many of Church Health’s patients,” she says. “I’ve seen how the care they receive has truly given them their lives back.”
That is why she encourages others not to underestimate the power of their generosity.
“Church Health welcomes gifts of every size,” Kate says. “Every donation helps care for our fellow Memphians.”
For Kate, giving is beautifully reciprocal.
“I truly feel like supporting Church Health gives me more than I’m able to give it.”
She believes generosity creates a cycle that strengthens the entire community.
“We support Church Health, and Church Health supports our community. It continues to go around and around.”
It is a simple truth that has guided three generations of her family—a reminder that when we care for one another, we all become stronger.
“I truly feel like supporting Church Health gives me more than I’m able to give it.”
And for Kate, there is no better investment in Memphis than helping a neighbor find healing.
“If you’re considering giving to Church Health for the first time, I can honestly say there are few organizations that have a greater impact on Memphis. When you support Church Health, you’re helping care for your neighbors—and strengthening the community we all call home.”
