About Lois Estes Ruleman

We are grateful for the life and service of Lois Estes Ruleman, who faithfully volunteered at Church Health for more than 30 years. Lois passed away on May 31.

Kim Simmons, who has been on the Church Health staff since its founding in 1987, doesn’t remember a time when Lois wasn’t working alongside her. “She was a very loving, caring person,” said Kim. “She was just so down to Earth and would make you feel like family. Color didn’t matter to her. She loved everyone.”

Over the years, Lois became part of Kim’s family, as she did Church Health’s. Lois was there for the birth of Kim’s daughter, Elise. When Elise went off to college in Nashville, she could count on a call from Lois anytime she was in the neighborhood.

Delvyn Liggans, Medical Assistant, worked with Lois in the lab scanning documents into medical charts. He bestowed the title “The Ultimate Volunteer” on Lois, who came in year after year, week after week, for her 2-3 hour “shift.” She always kept him on track, and they shared countless laughs and stories over the years.

Lois’ husband, Allan, became a volunteer provider in 2000. Everyone who worked with Lois remembers her loving nature, genuineness, reliability, and her strong faith. We honor her memory and extend our condolences and prayers to her family.
